Since 1979, Arts Umbrella has been delivering high-quality arts education to children and youth in Vancouver and beyond.
Children of all ages and skill levels can discover the joy of creating and expressing themselves in a a safe and suppportive environment. Innovative, inspiring and highly skilled instruction, together with small class size and high-quality supplies, create the Arts Umbrella magic.
Designed for teens, Pre-professional and Professional program options are also available, and offer students an enriched artistic practice, with class work focusing on idea development, experimentation, presentation, collaborative projects and portfolio development. Students will have the opportunity to engage in group critiques, converse with guest artists, and visit local exhibitions and performances.
Financial Aid
Bursaries are available for all programs, and are awarded based on financial need. Bursary applications must be submitted and approved before registering. For more information, including application forms, click here.

New Options
Early Learning and Home Learners - Class packages now offered!
Based on parent/ guardian feedback, Arts Umbrella now offers Early Learning and Home Learners class packages, allowing your child to participate in back-to-back classes, broadening their arts learning opportunities. Children are escorted to and from Transition, a snack break in between classes. In packages with 3 classes, Transition is included free-of-charge! Individual classes are still available.
( 2-3 yrs) Parent & Me Musical Expressions
A fun and interactive introduction to basic musical concepts (melody, rhythm, dynamics, musical form and ensemble playing). Musical expression is explored through singing songs, playing hand held percussion instruments, movement activities and musical stories.
( 5-6 yrs) Additional Saturday and Sunday classes
In response to the VSB's gradual shift to full-day kindergarten, Arts Umbrella is now offering Saturday and Sunday classes for 5-6 yr olds:

Imagine, design and create spaces and places for the future using digital technology. Explore landscape, scale and proportion and use Sketch Up, Photoshop and Illustrator software to build your ideas into reality.
(10-12 & 13-19 yrs) Additional Advanced Visual Arts Classes
Due to high demand for advanced visual arts classes, many new options are available. Class options now include:

Teen Sessions
Because teens have different scheduling considerations, Arts Umbrella is returning to offering 2 teen sessions, 1 in the Fall (10 weeks), and 1 spanning Winter and Spring (15 weeks)
(13-19 yrs) Wearable Art (Fall Only)
This practical, workshop-based class is designed for students wishing to experiment with different print techniques and textural processes. Students explore design concepts specific to working with fabrics, and learn to understand design requirements for printed textiles. The class is for young designers looking to solidify their design portfolio.

Please note that registering in person, by phone or fax does not immediately guarantee registration in a class. Your information will be processed as quickly as possible, but as the online registration system is real time, we cannot give preference to in-person or telephone requests.
