Saturday April 26, 2014 will see Arts Umbrella South Surrey transformed into a 3D experience of primary colours. Featuring a high-energy main stage world music concert by Juno award-winning musicians, the evening cocktail gala will infuse Arts Umbrella’s renowned calibre and quality throughout the experience. Guests can expect to dance to the sounds of Brazilian, African, and Cuban rhythms, be entertained by Arts Umbrella student dance and theatrical performances, and enjoy the body of student work in visual and digital art exhibits – all under one big umbrella.
Tickets to the event are $250 (a charitable tax receipt will be issued for a portion of the ticket price) and include delectable beverages and bites by Cocktails & Canapés and signature drinks crafted by Absolut Vodka, in addition to the live music, entertainment, and art exhibits. Produced by The Social Concierge of Le Dîner En Blanc fame, PRIMARY will be a truly unique gala affair with no additional fundraising activities at the event thanks to supporting sponsors CKNW AM 980, Coast Capital Savings, Kwantlen Polytechnic University, Opus Framing & Art Supplies, Polygon Homes, RAMMP Hospitality Brands Inc., and Vancouver Magazine.
Ticket sale revenue and awareness raised from PRIMARY will help the 35 year-old Arts Umbrella continue to deliver high quality arts education programs designed to transcend financial, cultural, and geographical barriers. Of the 21,500 children and young people Arts Umbrella serves each year, 14,000 access scholarships and bursaries to pay for the cost of the programs.
Arts Umbrella opened its Surrey locations following a study by the University of British Columbia, invited by the community to serve where the need was greatest. The organization is developing a series of programs tailored to the unique and diverse needs of the vibrant Surrey population.
