The Arts Umbrella Association Board is pleased to welcome two new Board Members to the team:
Heather Owen
An energetic and versatile professional, Heather has 20+ years of experience helping best-in-class brands with sponsorships, community marketing, communications, and brand development. Heather is a trusted advisor to C-level bank executives and a diplomatic leader of initiatives. She is well-recognized for spearheading major marketing campaigns in world-class events, including RBC’s partnership in the Vancouver Olympics. She is the Co-Chair of the Honda Celebration of Light, and has played a critical role in helping the organization become sustainable for future years. Heather lives in downtown Vancouver with her husband and her nine year-old daughter, who is a life-long Arts Umbrella student.
Thoren Hudyma
Thoren is a senior public affairs professional with close to 20 years of experience in the private sector, politics, and government. She has held senior communications roles both in-house and as a consultant, and her experience working with industry covers a wide range of sectors including energy, infrastructure, transportation, and health. She is a strategic thinker, an effective communicator, and has a proven ability at building relationships, coalitions, and highly effective teams. She is recognized for her ability to work with a variety of stakeholders in order to bring them together to find common solutions. Prior to joining Global, Thoren worked at BC Hydro where she led a newly-formed integrated business unit responsible for the communications, stakeholder consultation, government relations, Aboriginal communications. and sustainability activities for the company’s $7B infrastructure program. Over the past year, Thoren has volunteered on Arts Umbrella’s Government Affairs Committee, and her daughters have also attended classes at Arts Umbrella.
