Born in Edmonton, storyteller and painter Jay Senetchko now lives and works in Vancouver. Primarily a self-taught visual artist, he has exhibited his work since 2002 across North and Central America, and Europe. As a figurative realist, Senetchko creates narrative-based pieces that expose the tension of sentimentality and the inherent dangers of nostalgia. Senetchko’s practice also includes photography, digital media, sculpture, performance, and installation. He is a founding member of the figurative collective Phantoms in the Front Yard.
