Maegan Hill-Carroll is an artist living and working in Vancouver. She holds an MFA from the University of California Los Angeles and a BFA from the University of Manitoba, where she grew up building houses. Hill-Carroll’s work explores tensions between the ground and experience, the metaphysical and displaced narrative through sequencing, and traces and the materiality of the image. In installation, her work incorporates written audioworks and sculptural elements. She is interested in the overlap of photographic, sculptural, and painted practice, exploring techniques that encompass scanning, sculptural studio setup,s and painted interventions. She was the 2010 Barbara Spohr Memorial Award winner. Hill-Carroll’s work has been exhibited in Los Angeles and across Canada and her writing has been published in Fillip, Capricious, and the Chapess. She is represented by Wil Aballe Art Projects.
