NEW FOR 2023/24: STAGECRAFT PRO-D DAY WORKSHOPS!
Calling all aspiring theatre and film technicians! We are happy to announce the Pro-D Day Stagecraft workshop series – an opportunity for students ages 13-19 to explore specific areas of Stagecraft, taught by working industry professionals.
First up: Stage Management. This workshop will now be instructed by Jackie Adamthwaite (Vancouver Civic Theatres, Pacific Opera Victoria).

Students will learn how to position themselves for success in high school and/or community productions. Topics will include: setting up the prompt script, working with a director and production manager to schedule rehearsals, how to read between the lines to translate artistic language into practical cues, working with the stage crew, and beyond. The workshop will provide insider tips for the student stage manager, giving them the confidence to stage manage their next production with heightened calm, confidence, and clarity.
About the instructor:
Jackie’s career in the performing arts has been a mix of both backstage and front of house, production and performance focussed as well as arts admin. Jackie has a BFA in Theatre from the University of Victoria, with a specialization in Production Management. The first 15 years of Jackie’s career were spent in Stage Management, primarily in Opera, but also in Musical Theatre and concert events. In Victoria, Jackie has worked for Pacific Opera (Resident SM), the Belfry Theatre (Box Office, Front of House, SM), the Canadian College of Performing Arts (Operations Manager, SM Mentor), with Ken Lavigne in Concert (Production Designer) and for 17Black Events (Show Caller). Most recently Jackie was the Front of House Manager for the Royal and McPherson Theatres Society, and a Sessional Instructor at the University of Victoria. Jackie is currently working for the Vancouver Civic Theatres as Senior Manager of Theatre Operations.
