Kate Galicz

Kate lives, works, and plays on the unceded, traditional, and ancestral territories of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.

She is thrilled to lead Arts Umbrella’s Fund Development team following the organization’s exciting move into its state-of-the-art facility on Granville Island. Kate hopes to build capacity and further develop a long-term sustainable business model for Arts Umbrella.

Kate believes in arts-based community development and the ability of the arts and culture to bring diverse groups together. She holds a BA from UBC and an MA in Art History from York University, with research focusing on cultural hybridity and the role of cultural institutions in community building.

Before coming to Arts Umbrella, Kate spent 18 years at Heffel Fine Art Auction House, where she most recently held the position of Director of Heffel Vancouver. Kate currently serves on the Boards of Capture Photography Festival and North Vancouver Arts and is Vice-Chair of the City of North Vancouver’s Social Planning Advisory Committee. She is also a proud Arts Umbrella parent.
