Wright is an Irish mixed media and ceramics artist.
She completed her bachelors and research based masters in Ireland with a focus on applied material cultures – ceramics. Wright graduated with distinction for her body of work titled ‘Antibiotic Resistant Bacteria, a result of our passive nature towards the consumption of animal products: a critical artistic response.’ Through slip casting, she utilizes the use of mass production, repetition, scale and proportion to draw attention to the severity of an issue.
Wright explores contemporary social issues of her time, using her artwork to provoke thought and increase awareness of the issues that concern her by confronting the public visually. Wright has exhibited in contemporary art galleries throughout Ireland and strives to provoke social change by transforming the way we think and view the world around us. Focusing on conceptual and research based topics.
Having emigrated to Vancouver and joined the Arts Umbrella team, she hopes to create an environment that encourages students to be passionate about their creativity. To let their curiosity drive their work and to develop their independent thinking and contemplative practice.
