About the Program

Arts Umbrella Dance is proud to offer four Summer Dance Intensive programs each year:

  • International Summer Dance Intensive
  • ISDI2
  • Teen Summer Dance Intensive
  • Junior Summer Dance Intensive

Admission to the International Summer Dance Intensive and ISDI2 is by audition only. Please visit our auditions page for more information.

The Junior and Teen programs are some of the few intensives for younger dancers in Metro Vancouver. Featuring Ballet, Conditioning, Contemporary, and Character classes with special guest instructors and Arts Umbrella faculty. A minimum 1 year dance experience is required for Junior Summer Dance Intensive. 2 years dance experience is required for Teen Summer Dance Intensive. No audition required.

International Summer Dance Intensive 2025 will take place at our Granville Island location Monday to Friday, from 9:00am-5:00pm.

Domestic Tuition: $2,200CAD
International Tuition: $2,775 CAD

  • 3 Weeks: August 4-22, 2025

ISDI2 will take place at our Granville Island location Monday to Friday.

Tuition: $1430 CAD

  • 2 Weeks: July 21-August 1, 2025

Junior Summer Dance Intensive 2025 will take place at our Granville Island location Monday to Friday, from 9:30 AM-3:45 PM.

Tuition: $660 CAD per week. 

  • Week 1: July 7-11, 2025
  • Week 2: July 14-18, 2025

Teen Summer Dance Intensive 2025 will take place at our Granville Island location Monday to Friday, from 8:45 AM-4:00 PM.

Tuition: $660 CAD per week.

Information

International Summer Dance Intensive

Ages 13+ | August 4-22, 2025
World-renowned teachers, choreographers, and repetiteurs offer a dance experience that will lead dancers to reach their performance potential. The intensive full-day, three-week program includes classes such as ballet, repertoire, pointe, modern, contemporary, movement exploration, Gaga, Forsythe Improvisation Technologies, partnering, and coaching and conditioning.

ISDI2

Ages 11-13 | July 21 - August 1, 2025
This inaugural two-week intensive program has been developed to recognize the need for dancers in Grade 6, 7, and 8 to experience a purposefully challenging program. Dancers who show potential to excel in a dense and comprehensive program will be encouraged to elevate their dance practice.

Junior Summer Dance Intensive

Ages 7-12 | July 8-12, July 15-19 & July 22-26
A one, two, or three-week intensive summer program for younger dancers, featuring ballet, character, modern, repertoire, and jazz with special guest instructors and Arts Umbrella faculty. A comprehensive way to prepare for classes in September.

Teen Summer Dance Intensive

Ages 12+ | July 8-12, July 17-21 & July 22-26
A one, two, or three week program for teens who are seeking a high level of dance instruction to develop and maintain dance ability they have acquired in the General Dance program. Featuring ballet, character, modern, repertoire, and jazz classes with Arts Umbrella faculty, the program also brings in special guest instructors.
